The OneBio Innovation Centre (OBIC) is a non-profit company (NPC), that directly supports South African Biotech startups by offering access to fully equipped, world-class shared biotech laboratory space as well as office space and a recreational area for community engagement. Additionally, the OBIC coordinates local biotech focused events, seminars and conferences, and promotes local and international conference attendance by local entrepreneurs.
The OBIC aims to go beyond the physical lab and office space and aims to foster and empower a biotechnology ecosystem, connecting entrepreneurs with investors, mentors, academic and corporate partners, and government officials in order to establish Cape Town as an internationally recognised and sought-after biotechnology hub.
Key Focus areas
OBIC supports both early-stage (pre-seed) and late-stage (seed) biotechnology start-ups to progress them to stages of further funding and commercialization through access to a world-class shared laboratory and dedicated laboratory suites.
