Ms Fuzlin Levy-HassenChairman of the Investment and Finance Committee (IFC)
Ms Fuzlin Levy-Hassen’s career as a Chartered Accountant spans more than two decades. During her career,
she has been exposed to many different industries from start-ups to stock-market listed companies.
She has dealt with deal sourcing, audits, company/ risk analysis, turnarounds, venture capital, private equity,
investment banking, due diligence, post-investment management, directorships, investment committees, and
lecturing in accounting.
She joined the Industrial Development Corporation 2008 where she held the role of Senior Account Manager
for Venture Capital until 2015. She currently holds the position of Senior Manager for New Industries.
Prior to Levy-Hassen’s tenure at the IDC, she held the position of Investment Manager of Growth and
Acquisition Finance at Investec for a year. Between 2004 and 2005, she was a Senior Lecturer at the University
of Western Cape. Levy-Hassen has also worked for the National Empowerment Fund, Norwich Investments,
UCT and Ernst & Young.
Her academic accolades include a B.Com degree which she obtained from the University of Cape Town
(UCT) in 1990, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Accounting from UCT in 1991, a B.Com Honours in Accounting
from UCT in 1995, and a certificate in Venture Capital from UC Berkley, Haas School of Business in 2009.
She completed her PAAB exam to be registered as a Chartered Accountant with SAICA in 1996. She is also
professionally registered as a Member of the South African Institute of Directors (IOD).
Levy-Hassen is a director of a company involved in the manufacture of electrical components and appliances, and
She is currently an Investment Committee member of the Niche Fund (Manufacturing Competitiveness Enhancement Programme). She is an ex-director of a multimedia company, ex-trustee of The Governing Body Foundation.
