Hi, How Can We Help You?

Invitation to participate in the Technology Innovation Agency Mentorship Programme

Overview

The Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), an entity of the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) is inviting interested parties to register and participate as mentors in the TIA mentorship programme.TIA stimulates and supports technological innovation to improve the quality of life for all South Africans and facilitate the translation of South Africa’s knowledge resources and innovations into sustainable socio-economic opportunities. TIA’s goal is to develop new industries, create sustainable jobs and help diversify the economy by supporting the development and commercialisation of innovations.

Evidence has shown the value of mentorship in improving the opportunities and levels of success of the entrepreneurs we support. The TIA mentorship programme is a key strategic component of our commitment to supporting young innovators to accelerate their innovations to commercialisation.

The TIA mentorship programme is a programme that provides mentorship support to young innovators in TIA programmes such as the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP), the Gauteng Accelerator Programme (GAP – ICT, Medical, Biosciences and Green innovations), the Leaders in Innovation Programme (LIF – Innovations with Engineering focus), Grassroots Innovation Programme (GIP) and the SWISS Programme. Beyond the programmes, investees whom TIA funds will also have access to the mentorship service.

The programme is aimed to building a pool of specialist and generalist mentors who can support TIA innovators on their business development path working through critical milestones to progress their innovations towards commercialisation. In addition, the programme connects mentees (innovators) with mentors who have experience and knowledge in sectors such as energy, health, agriculture, ICT, industrial biotech, natural resources, and advanced manufacturing.
