TIA in collaboration with Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), the KZN Department of Human Settlements (KZNDHS) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is conducting a pilot project on the use of remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) to monitor the encroachment of housing delivery beyond project boundaries, illegal land invasion and the expansion of informal settlements. The project will deliver amongst other things, policy recommendations on the adoption, use and implications of RPAS technology in monitoring land invasion and informal settlements in the in human settlements sector.
The Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), is collaborating with the KZNDHS in piloting the use of remotely piloted aircraft system to achieve the objectives of this project whilst creating entrepreneurship opportunities for the youth and SMME’s. TIA is therefore looking to appoint a local SMME to participate in this pilot project to use RPAS technology to monitor the encroachment of housing delivery beyond project boundaries, illegal land invasion and the expansion of informal settlements.
