The Bioprocessing Platform, in Umbogintwini KwaZulu Natal, which integrates the functions of the Institute for Diagnostic Research (IDR), can accommodate multidisciplinary projects and tenants at any given point. The platform offers occupancy to clients and their projects as well as technical support in the form of bioprocess and rapid diagnostic product and process development. As such, the platforms are expected to offer responsive technical and management support to incubated projects which requires resident high levels of technical skills. The Platform is pursuing business development activities aimed at improving the project pipeline within the platform; but the successful implementation of these projects depend on providing a fully resourced infrastructure complemented by sufficiently skilled human resources.
