Introduction TIA Skills Development for Innovation programmes are geared at ensuring capacity building and skills development interventions are initiated to service the current challenge of scarcity of skills in the Science and Technology field especially in the “Innovation” space.

Strategic Goal To support the government’s goal to improve economic growth and quality of life for all South Africans through “stimulating and intensifying technological innovation” by ensuring a consistent supply of high calibre human capital that is highly skilled, experienced, motivated, flexible both technically and commercially for successful technology innovation within the National System of Innovation within the TIA mandated Sectors.

Main Objectives

The main objectives of TIA’s Skills Development for Innovation intervention is to;

Facilitate, support and promote increased awareness of science, engineering, technology and technology innovation opportunities through developing and leveraging strategic partnerships.
Facilitate development and support of relevant programmes that are designed to attract and increase the skilled human capital in the fields of science, engineering, technology and technology innovation.
Invest in relevant skills and capacity development within TIA and the technology innovation community and TIA investments.
Facilitate the development of relevant and accredited and non accredited short courses that address the Skills Development for Innovation needs of both TIA, the technology innovation community including the TIA sectors skills needs through the TIA Academy.
